Today a teaser image has been posted by Xiaomi on its official Facebook account. It is noted that the image partially shows the new price for the Xiaomi Redmi 2 as Rs. 5,999. We can also see in the teaser there is a text “TO DO: PAINT THE TOWN RED.” We are unable to get any information from this text.
But after judging this teaser, it is expected that Xiaomi could either offer Rs 1000 price cut on the Redmi 2 which is currently available at Rs 6999 that was launched in India in March 2015. It is also expected that the company may launch the Redmi 2A in India. In either case, the price for the device will be Rs 5,999. We have to wait a bit mote as Xiaomi will make the announcement tomorrow at 10am on mi.com/in.
Specifications wise, the Redmi 2 features a 4.7 inch HD IPS display at 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and is powered by a 64-bit 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor comes with Adreno 306 GPU. The smartphone runs on runs on Xiaomi’s own MIUI 6 skin over Android 4.4 KitKat.
The device has 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage that can be further expanded via microSD card. In the rear side of the device it has an 8MP camera and in the front side it has a 2MP camera for taking personal selfie.
